Well every graphic designer will tell you this: You don’t, we do! But here’s this is how we do it. For every logo you want to capture the mood or personality of the business. As you’ll see in the sample, a kiddie haircut salon needs something that is fun, bright, happy and not serious! You don’t want to scare away your customers before they sit in the chair! In a place like this even the decor will reflect these elements. On the other hand, you’ll want to stay away from dark colours, from heavy fonts, and save these for the mortgage brokers and accountants. A few questions to ask yourself:
• What is the main mood of my business?
• Is my business serious, like a funeral parlor, or fun like a marketing company?
• Who is my target customer? Kids? Moms? Business professionals?
A great idea is to look at what other people in your line of work are doing – not to copy them, but to get a sense of what is working and what is not.
