Occasionally, clients will come to us thinking that branding is just a logo. It’s so much more! Branding is every visual aspect connected with your company – from the graphics on your vehicle, to you website, to the sign above your office door – the logo is just the spring board. That’s why sometimes a company with the most simple logo, can have the most memorable and powerful branding – think Pepsi, Nike, Apple…
So how do you integrate your branding into all aspects of your company? Well, it’s like wearing an outfit – you want all the pieces to coordinate and flow together, not clash or look like they don’t belong. You wouldn’t pair an tuxedo jacket with cut off jeans, and neither would you have a different look on your website than you do on your business cards. They ought to look continuous and flowing, and “on purpose”.
What does this mean exactly? Fonts, colours, even specific stock photo style must be the same across the board. For example if you have little blue dots on your business card in the upper left hand corner, it’d be a good idea to get those same blue dots on the letterhead and website.
Just some areas you might think of applying branding:
– Website
– Facebook Page
– Twitter
– Blog
– Linked In
– Office Sign
– Vehicle Graphics
– Business Card
– Letterhead
– Work T-shirt (a great one for service industries!)
– Printed Literature
– Pens
– And so much more…
A great logo just isn’t enough – carry it through to all visual aspects of your business! Try to keep all your work with the same graphic design company, but if this is not possible, have a style guide developed which you can then give to printers and graphic designers – anyone working on your marketing pieces.
